ThroneTalk Privacy Policy
Effective date: the date you first download or use the Service. Last updated: September 13, 2026
Thronetalk LLC ("ThroneTalk," "we," "us") provides the ThroneTalk mobile application and related services (the "Service") — an app that lets you show close friends when you are actually free to talk, and see the same about them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a presence app, we do not run ads, we do not sell your information, and we never store your address book.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
Account information. Your name and mobile phone number, used to create and secure your account. We verify your number with a one-time code sent by text message.
Profile information. An optional profile photo.
Status information. The availability status you set (Available, On the Throne, Driving, or Off) and when you set it. Your current status is shared only with friends you have added.
Friends and PoopPals. The friend connections and "PoopPal" designations you create in the app.
Support communications. Anything you send us when you contact support.
Contact matching (processed, never stored)
If you grant the app access to your contacts, the app sends the phone numbers from your address book to our server for the sole purpose of showing you which of your contacts already use ThroneTalk. Numbers are matched in memory and immediately discarded; we do not store your address book, contact names, or the numbers of non-users on our servers. You can use ThroneTalk fully without granting contacts access.
Information collected automatically
Device push token. A token issued by Apple that lets us deliver notifications (for example, when you and a PoopPal are free at the same time).
Status history and activity events. A history of your status changes and call hand-off taps, used to power in-app achievements and to operate the Service. We never access, record, or store the content of your calls — calls take place entirely in the calling app you choose (Phone, WhatsApp, or FaceTime).
Basic technical logs. Standard server logs (such as IP address, timestamps, and request data) used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
What we do NOT collect
No location tracking and no motion data leaves your phone. Automatic driving detection runs entirely on your device: the motion sensor decides, and location is used only on-device to wake the app in the background. Your location and motion data are never read by us, transmitted, or stored on our servers — the only thing our servers ever see is the resulting status (such as “Driving”).
No call audio, call logs, or message content.
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
No sale or rental of personal information to anyone, ever.
2. How We Use Information
Provide the Service: show your status to your friends, deliver both-free PoopPal alerts, surface which contacts are already on ThroneTalk.
Secure the Service: verify your phone number, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms.
Improve the Service: understand aggregate usage and fix bugs.
Communicate with you: service messages such as verification codes and important account notices.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by applicable law.
3. How We Share Information
With your friends. Your name, photo, status, and phone number (used for call hand-off buttons) are visible to friends you have accepted. That is the point of the app. People you have not accepted cannot see your status.
Service providers. We use a small number of processors to run the Service: Twilio (text-message verification codes), Railway (cloud hosting; our servers are currently located in the European Union), and Apple (push notification delivery). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or others.
Business transfers. If ThroneTalk is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information from our production systems within 30 days, except for limited records we must retain for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. You can delete your account in the app (Profile > Delete Account) or by emailing us at the address below.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access, correct, or delete your information (in-app or by email).
Revoke permissions (notifications, contacts) at any time in iOS Settings; the app keeps working.
Opt out of non-essential notifications in the app’s Profile settings.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know, portability, non-discrimination, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below; we will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect (described in Section 1), the sources of that information, and the purposes for which it is used (Section 2); the right to access and receive a portable copy of your information; the right to correct inaccurate information; the right to delete your information; and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done either in the preceding 12 months, so there is no need for a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” opt-out. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit. To exercise any right, use the in-app tools (Profile > Delete Account) or email us at the address in Section 10; we will verify your request (typically by confirming control of the phone number on the account) and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent, whom we will ask to provide proof of authorization.
Users in the EEA and United Kingdom (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Thronetalk LLC is the controller of your personal information. We process your information on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (operating the Service, showing your status to friends, delivering alerts); our legitimate interests (securing the Service, preventing fraud and abuse, debugging); your consent (contact matching and notifications, which you may withdraw at any time in iOS Settings); and compliance with legal obligations.
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. Our servers are currently located in the European Union; where information is transferred to providers in other countries (such as the United States), we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact us at the address in Section 10.
6. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to production systems is limited and credentialed. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for data minimization — the less we collect, the less can go wrong.
7. Children
ThroneTalk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Users
We are a U.S. company; our servers are currently hosted in the European Union. By using the Service you understand your information will be processed in the countries where we and our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
